The official opening of the 12th International Exhibition and Scientific Conference on Hydroaviation Hydroaviasalon-2018 was held on Friday, September 7, at the grounds of the Test and Experimental Base in Gelendzhik. The second day of the event contained the largest number of business program events. Public presentations of projects seeking to obtain state aid started. First agreements for supplies of aviation equipment were signed, while United Aircraft Corporation handed over its Be-200ChS aircraft to EMERCOM. Bad weather conditions did not prevent holding competitions within the Russian Aquabike Championship, and young yachtsmen competed as part of the Youth Division Competitions of the Russian National Sailing League.
Digital transformation of industry is the keynote of the Hydroaviasalon's Business Program, and the second day of the event became the busiest one in terms of the number of world-famous experts involved in discussion of the topical issues.
Plenary session “Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. New Horizons of Russian Industry” organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation became the most important event. Participants of the session discussed the prospects of application of artificial intelligence and obstacles on the way to its implementation. Continuing the topic, a number of roundtables on the economic feasibility of digital transformation, risks related to implementation of digital technologies and challenges arising from the change of enterprises' business models were held. Kaspersky Lab organized a panel discussion on cybersecurity and brought up for discussion the issues of risks and opportunities arising from building a line of defense from cyber threats, application of artificial intelligence to ensure cyber protection of technological processes. Participants of Hydroaviasalon were very enthusiastic about the panel discussion on the technology of digital twins organized by ANSYS.
Participants of the roundtable organized by the Moscow Aviation Institute (National Research University) discussed the topic or training and re-training personnel for organization of the aviation industry in the period of digital transformation.
The peculiarity of the 2018 Exhibition is that it goes beyond the aviation topic: a number of events covered problems of radio-electronic industry and use of digital solutions in related sectors. So, a panel discussion on the main points of the development strategy for radio-electronic industry was held on September 7. Participants of the discussion focused their attention on the Strategy concept, issues of interaction between the participants within the framework of the industry target model, building up a complex of events to stimulate development of the production of civil electronic products. Applied solutions facilitating development of the digital platform of services for industry were discussed by participants of the panel discussion organized by the Faculty of Economics of the Moscow State University (MSU). The company ADM Special Solutions and Technologies held a conference entitled “Regulatory and Legal Standards for the Digital Design of Unique Industrial Facilities” devoted to establishment of a digital standard for design of unique industrial facilities.
The issues of building and operating unmanned aviation systems were covered at two high-level events. The Expert Council at the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, Innovative Development and Entrepreneurship for Aviation Industry, the State Duma Commission on Legal Support to the Development of Organizations of the Military-Industrial Complex of Russia with the support of the Committee on Aircraft Industry of Russian Engineering Union held a joint retreat on the topic “Production of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles as One of the Main Directions of Diversification of Defense Industry Enterprises. Prospective Markets and Barriers.” A panel discussion that continued the discussion of the issues related to identification and removal of obstacles on the way of mass implementation and application of unmanned aviation systems was held under the aegis of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The scientific component of the exhibition's business program included the International Scientific Conference on amphibious and non-aerodrome aviation that was continued in the sections, and the 3rd International Scientific and Technical Conference "Corrosion, Aging and Biostability of Materials in Marine Climate" organized by FSUE VIAM.
The first projects seeking to obtain state aid were defended. Leading sector-specific scientific and research institutes and designers of unmanned aviation systems displayed the most active attitude. In particular, the Central Aero-Hydrodynamic Institute presented its project of the complex for design, production and testing of aerodynamic models, the Central Institute of Aviation Motors brought up its project of building a family of rotary piston engines for light-engine aircrafts for experts’ discussion.
